Arrival of Windows Server 2003 Heralds New Era for Software Security | |

For countless people and businesses around the world, the Internet is a dream come true, but at times that dream has nearly become a nightmare. Along with the benefits of instant global communication and increased connectivity, new security risks have emerged on a scale that few anticipated or could have imagined. As people everywhere increase their reliance on the Internet to help them communicate and conduct business, the need for a secure computing platform becomes more apparent and more critical each day. Windows Server 2003, which Microsoft will make generally available on April 24, will set a new security standard for server operating systems. Windows Server 2003 is the first operating system released by Microsoft since the company's chairman and chief software architect, Bill Gates, challenged all 50,000 Microsoft employees in January 2002 to build more Trustworthy Computing products and services for customers that would make computing as worry free as the electricity that powers their homes and offices. | ||

Actually my friend I had the same issue on some of my machines. Could not get around it.
Worked fine on others though. I still have not found away around it and there is 0 documentation on the issue in the kb. |

I had the same setup message, but I continued anyway. I didn't start SQL Server after installation, however. Instead, I immediatly installed SP3.
All seems happy. |

Hmm... you may have to do an adminstrative install. This involves creating a setup directory with all the patched files, and installing from there instead of the CD.
There is plenty of documentation online about it. Just look up "SQL Server Administrative Installation". |

I had no issue. Ran Sql2k setup, got warning... clicked past warning.
When done installed SP3. Then started it and no problems. |
