Artisan Entertainment has just announced the full specs for their upcoming T2: Extreme Edition, and dammit if they don't include the first-ever audio commentary by filmmaker James Cameron.
The two-disc set, due in stores June 3rd, boasts a new anamorphic transfer of the special edition cut (downconverted from a newly minted 1080p high-definition film-to-tape) which, according to Artisan, was restored frame-by-frame. The audio end of things is supplied by a Dolby Digital 5.1 EX track and a newly mixed Dolby Headphone audio track.
Headlining the supplements is a brand-new audio commentary featuring writer/director James Cameron and co-screenwriter William Wisher. Other special features in the set include an Extreme Interactive Mode, providing behind-the-scenes footage and graphic commentary providing insight into decisions during the film’s shoot; "No Feat But What We Make," a new documentary highlighting T2's role in the development of digital effects and modern filmmaking; "T2: On the Set," a retrospective montage that includes rare production footage; "Infiltration Unit Simulator and T2 FX Studio," a primer on image morphing that allows one to graft one’s own head shot onto a T800 or T1000 Terminator; and "Skynet Combat Chassis Designer," with which one can construct and field-test a Terminator fighting machine. This two-disc set comes packaged in an embossed "endoskeleton" metal casing and retails for $29.98.
