The Advertising Standards Authority of SA (ASA) has ordered that a Microsoft ad implying that its software will bring about the extinction of the hacker is to be pulled for being "unsubstantiated and misleading". An objection was lodged by freelance journalist Richard Clarke, in his personal capacity, who complained that the advert was untrue. He claimed Microsoft software is littered with vulnerabilities. | ||

I thought the hacker was already extinct from Oracle's Unbreakable software.
I hope Richard Clarke never stumbles across breast enlargement pills on eBay. He'll overdose on laughable. |

#5, using that same logic, if there were no hackers, there would be no need to patch anything.
I say, let them run any ad they want, I assume the ad is for Windows 2003 Server, which if its for 2003 Server, then it would make them look even worse once its hacked to pieces. And if it is for Windows 2003 Server, then this guy Clark doesn't have a leg to stand on, because for a product that isnt out yet, he can't say its full of vulnerabilities. |

You mean like the .NET Framework has been hacked to pieces? Wait... not a single vulnerability has been found, despite many thousands of attempts, no doubt. I have confidence that Windows Server 2003 will be the most secure OS from Microsoft yet, and will be one of the most secure OS's available. What do I base my claims on? Well, for one thing, Microsoft has completely locked the beast down... this alone would negate the vast majority of vulnerabilities. |
