Petreley surveyed Linux developers, and from this selective sample made some wild conclusions. Proof positive again that Linux zealots do not have a grip on reality.

I am going to be 100% honest here and say that the article is one of the funniest, off the wall, hole ridden source of FUD, Spin and Lies that I have EVER read on the internet in the ENTIRE time I have read articles on the NET!
Here is another clue that the author has no idea what he is talking about: "When you upgrade your server from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, I am not aware of anyone who subtracts "one" from the number of installations of Windows. " There is no Windows XP Server! ROFL! The guy is getting a little ahead of himself (and burying himself in a hole). Windows Server 2003 isn't even out yet! This article is the perfect SPIN CITY I have ever seen. |

Nick Putrid is a open sore zealot. He article is pure fantasy from a number of perspectives.
My favorite part is when he states that Linux runs circles around Windows 2000 Server. Of course, there is only one entry at www.tpc.org for open sore. This is where the big boys compete for all the marbles and Microsoft has most of the top spots and has had them for several years now. For example in the tpc-C category, RedHat's entry is more than 600,000 tpmC behind the top scorer, Microsoft, And Red Hat's entry is 35% MORE expensive than Microsoft's top score entry. This is just more of the, "if we tell it to them often enough, someone is bound to believe us," blarney. See how I cleverly worked in a St. Pat's day reference?!! Too bad, Putrid isn't even as clever in this junk article. |

I will certainly agree with that. "And when it does, there is no telling whether Linux will be there or not, but it certainly looks that way today. " I doubt it. Linux doesn't offer anything better, technologically. It is just slightly cheaper, but the development model is such that the implementation and support costs will always be much higher. Microsoft dominace will come to an end at some point, but whatever that technology is, it hasn't arived in the marketplace yet. But it will be something different, something so original and new that money will drive towards it instead of the status quo. Just as the PC came about in opposition to the mainframe. "In a nutshell, keep an open mind, no matter which side you are on, as history is certain to repeat itself. " It already has. Linux is the same as OS/2 and the Amiga. A little bit of adoption, and a large number of loud mouthed zealots. |

FUD, I am sure that there is some guy still making money programming for the Vic 20 and Commodore 64. So as Brian pointed out, what is your point?
Even SodaJerk makes a living in the technical field, but he doesn't make it using Apple. >:) |
