Even before the dot-com bubble burst, the Internet service provider (ISP) business had turned into a dogfight. Microsoft's MSN service, with as many as 9 million customers, has relentlessly chipped away at worldwide leader America Online. Still, with 35 million subscribers, the AOL service has held onto a commanding lead. | ||

I would laugh my head off if this happened. It would be a beautiful thing, Microsoft would finally own the carcass of netscape and they could kill it. On top of that, just think about the beautiful cooments Sun Microsystems and Larry Elison would have. They would be livid.
I think consumers would utimately lose if it happened, I for one would love it because its such a great irony. Last things last, its not going to happen because AOL has way to much debt, and I think MS is just going to keep attacking at AOL through their MSN department before they just go out an buy a dying dog like AOL. Steve Case, this is your worse personal nightmare and you know what, ITS ACTUALLY BEING TALKED ABOUT. Do you think the DOJ would stop this based on AOL or just the size of the final company?
