Borland Software has licensed a key piece of Microsoft's .Net software and will build a new line of programming tools for .Net later this year, the companies announced Monday. Borland expects to be the first company to license Microsoft's .Net Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) and incorporate it into a product. The .Net Framework SDK is a set of tools designed to make it quicker for programmers to write and run .Net applications on Microsoft's Windows operating system. | ||

Am I missing something? They are going to compete with MS by licensing MS's tools and make a better .Net tool than MS? LOL |

I think it's an overall good thing.
With .Net we're going to see competition in the IDE space... all using a general compiler. That's good, that means you can easily move from one IDE to another as needed without worry about your code not compiling. Well ok, Borland will probably also include Borland.Windows.UI components which include buttons with big green OK's and red CANCEL's. But other than that. :) |
