Nick Roberts has emailed us saying, "Microsoft Windows Activation servers have been down all day. A call to the activation number is no help either. They give you a message that the servers will be up in 4 to 5 hours." It sounds like the servers may have some how been affected by the SQL worm going around. We will bring you more info when we get it.

| Actually, I think the activation servers were down for a bit on Thursday night as well... (at least, I had problems activating. It couldn't connect over the internet). Activation by phone went fine... maybe they're just having problems with the system? |

i never had an issue with Passport or MSN Messenger. My parents' MSN ISP account worked fine too. Perhaps we were lucky. This post was edited by mooresa56 on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 20:37. |

I do hope that Microsoft was impacted by this SQL Server thing... maybe it'll encourage them to build a better way to distribute the patches.
