Taiwanese manufacturers are competing to design thinner notebooks based on Intel’s Banias mobile CPU.
While most P4-M-based notebooks are 32-35mm thick, Intel hopes that Banias-based notebooks will be between 22.86mm and 27.94mm thick (one inch, give or take 0.1 inches).
According to sources, Quanta has developed the thinnest Banias-based notebook, at 26mm thick, so far among Taiwanese competitors. Acer is said have placed orders for this one-spindle model.
