The Justice Department is trying to determine whether Microsoft is sharing details about its Windows operating system with competitors as required under a proposed antitrust settlement, the Los Angeles Times reported. Investigators want to know whether Microsoft has withheld formulas that could allow rivals to write programs that work well with Windows, the newspaper's Web site reported Wednesday night, quoting unidentified executives of software companies. | ||

beeyp - The Bruce Perens article? That would be the rantings of a self-congratulatory lunatic.
The first article refers to the license for using the CIFS documentation. The second(my post is at the top of that list, BTW) refers to the GotDotNet workspaces. #6 inquired about Visual Studio.NET, which is a tool that one uses to write software. These are different things. Oh, to both of you. If you cannot understand the distinctions, could you please explain to me why the GPL license operates in the same way? | RANT - The difference of course being that Microsoft has no interest in using a restrictive license on their developer tools... whereas the GNU organization has a history of such abuse. |

beeyp - Check out the history of the LGPL.
BTW, Visual Studio .NET does not restrict developers from compiling GPL code... I hope you understand that now. |
