Microsoft, HP to team for .Net effort | |

In a sign of deepening ties between Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard, the two companies are set to announce a joint effort to push the software giant's .Net services to HP's corporate clients. HP notified its employees of the program, known as Net Results, earlier this summer. As part of the program, HP plans to train 5,000 sales and service workers on .Net as well as certify 3,000 of its consultants to work with the Microsoft initiative, according to a July e-mail to HP employees from services chief Ann Livermore and Enterprise Systems Group head Peter Blackmore. | ||

RE: The article. What about all the articles a few weeks ago stating HP formed a rift with MS by including WordPerfect on some of their systems? What will those guys say now? |

| I just don't get it. I have 1300+ posts, and nobody wants to get named after me. I rally the board to a new posting record, and on that very day, sodablue wins another heckler. I should move over to macosx.com and complain about how horrible apple is with all the mac fans. |

Actually, there is a version of .NET for BSD, so it can be called cross-platform. Also, .NET has support for Cobol. |

| i've never known that "Java so popular for in-house applications in big companies?" Funny most large companies that need a quick fix through together a VB6 app. No company in its right mind would create a desktop java app. Even running jdk 1.4 they are still dog slow comapred to a compiled VB app. That's pretty sad since VB apps aren't even fast. |

| why don't you define the "core java market" for us beeyp. that way we can argue this a little bit more sensibly. |
