Web Services era 'drawing to close' | |

Today's era of XML web services is coming to an end. That's according to top thinkers at Microsoft Corp and IBM Corp, companies synonymous with a brace of specifications working their way through standards bodies and organizations. Don Box, Microsoft architect and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) co-author, last week called XML web services protocols such as SOAP "plumbing". He said the frenzy of work by vendors on this plumbing is starting to wind down. Speaking at the XML Web Services One conference in Boston, Massachusetts, Box is reported to have told delegates that IT infrastructure is now starting to catch up work on protocols. That is vendors, like IBM and Microsoft, are implementing protocols into products, which will soon find their way into organizations. | ||

| Box said, and the dude from IBM backed him up that the standards and protocols and their implementations would soon be in place. The era of web services isn't closing according to them. They say, with a foundation in place, now is the time for web services applications. Does the Register understand that their headline isn't supported by the article? |

They don't care. They craft both their articles and their stories to make anti-MS people happy, and to make as many undecideds as anti-ms as possible.
Since Microsoft has been "all web services, all the time", this article title would suggest they had been either wrong or defeated by a rival. |

how much longer are we to be made to read these Ragister articles. Don't get me wrong, I only waste enough time to read the headlines on ActiveWin... but that is too often.
This source of info IS NOT LEGITIMATE. Why does ActiveWin continue to link to them? Is ActiveWin so thirsty for visitors that they would link to (thereby PROMOTE) the same kind of sensationalism that the Rag is famous for. |

| I wouldn't just stop bitching about the articles. I'd just stop coming here. If the site doesn't respond to what the users want, then the site will likely lose users. |

| At least two of us aren't happy about it. I could be wrong, but I kind of doubt that we are just the vocal minority. In another post from you even today you complained about an Inquirer article. There is plenty of news on the Internet from respectable at least somewhat non biased (for or against) sources without having to go to the Register and Inquirer. Even Joe Wilcox has more talent than their writers. |
