Sun Microsystems Inc is hatching a set of XML data standards for use in desktop productivity applications, in attempt to unseat Microsoft Corp's domination of office applications, Gavin Clarke writes. Palo Alto, California-based Sun said Friday it is working on a set of potential standards with a series of un-named partners, and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS). | ||

| You can get a Word viewer at no cost, so you don't have to dole out any money to see what someone wrote in a Word doc. |

People sure spend alot of time thinking about tiny market shares. Just think of all the time we spend reading about Apple, Netscape, and Linux...
