First Windows XP Service Pack on the Launch Pad | |

Microsoft Corp. is expected to release the first service pack for Windows XP sometime next week. Sources close to the Redmond, Wash., software company told eWEEK on Wednesday that SP1 could be made available as early as next Tuesday, immediately after the Labor Day weekend. The service pack, which has been in beta since June, will include all the security fixes, application compatibility updates and updated drivers released since the launch of the product last October. | ||

Internet Explorer 6 is due for its first Service Pack and suspect that this will be released around the same time as XP SP1.
Anyone know if there is to be a build of XP with SP1 included? I may be tempted to upgrade from Windows 2000. http://www.lee.ic24.net/ |

It reports that it is already installed and it asks if you want to copy the older files over the newer files, and you can choose "yes to all" or "no to all". I haven't tried the "yes to all" and copied the older files ontop of the newer files--thought it would screw the system up. Anyone try it?
"I think that there going to change the way to install IE6 SP1 before the launch of XP SP1 because this is a peculiar situation, and it could lead to support problems. I attribute it to being in Beta right now. |
