Will LindowsOS run Windows applications? | |

Lindows.com, the operating system maker, is being forced to re-evaluate its strategy to lure the average consumer away from Windows. The company has increasingly moved away from its original claim to fame -- running popular Windows applications on a non-Microsoft platform. A spokeswoman for Lindows.com confirmed that while some Windows applications will run on LindowsOS, this compatibility is no longer the company's top priority. "Our product does not target the user who wants to save a few dollars on the operating system, but then still run out and spend thousands of dollars on Microsoft Office, Photoshop, et cetera," she commented. | ||

i'm not sure why microsoft is concerned with lindowsOS. The only people that will be hurt will be Walmart and all those hapless grandkids who receive those POS computers from their kind-hearted, but cluelessly out of date grandparents.

| Because some idiot will try to sue MS saying that they were fooled by the name resemblance etc. etc.; the scarriest thing is that these individuals could even found a Judge who could accept to listen to the case. Remember the story od Sun that first sued MS about the Java modified ( and much improved) edition bundled with the OS and than sued again to have Java in XP again or people taking Mc Donalds in court becuase thet are obeses! |

mooresa - Wow, that article was scorching! I had to go get my fire extinguisher out of the garage.
The problem with Linux is that it's advocates are still stuck in the computing world of the 1980's. The way Lindows is described here it sounds exactly like say the Amiga as a competitor to the Mac. So this type of crap seems perfectly reasonable to them. |
