I really don't think yall understand what IE's smart tags do, and I really don't think that you are taking the time to READ what the testers (who have USED the product) know about it.
Like I said before, Smart Tags of OFF by default, the user HAS to turn them on themself.
Second, when Smart Tags are enabled, if a word or company that is in the smart tag database is on a webpage, it puts a little squigly purple line (which isn't in the way at all), letting you know that you can click that and get a box that has links to information like company news, stock quotes, a link to their site, a price chart and a quick search for the word. This is a VERY unintrusive product that adds a LOT of functionality.
Now instead of making incredibly stupid assumptions and hating MS just because it's MS, why don't you pull your heads out of your butt and realize that YOU haven't even seen it yet!
