Considering that HP kept the more popular iPaq product line, shows you that the iPaq is a better product.
When Compaq, HP, and Casio came out with their own PPC Device, Compaq already had the upper hand because of the processor, weight, and size. Another advantage of the Compaq PPC was it came with the interchangable sleeves; which was taken advantaged by manufacturing devices out there. For instance, Compaq can handle both CF I & II, and even though HP has a built in CF slot, it could only handle CF I, plus the Jornada felt like a brick and was slow compare to the iPaq. I know this for a fact because those devices has gone thru my hands in the past.
Most complaint I've heard from Compaq users was that the dust inside the screen. Yes it is annoying because you can see it, and it accumulates. Another problem with the iPaq was the stylus release button; it was made of plastic and the tip easily breaks. Yes it did happen to me, and I had to purchase the Do-it-yourself kit from PPCTechs for $50. When my iPaq arrived, it was DOA (screen wasn't functioning properly at all), but Compaq took care of me right away because Compaq found out that I've purchased 3 PPC devices (2 Compaq /1 HP),and the fact that I work for an IT department for an enterprise company.
I've enjoyed my HP, but to bad HP is killing the Jornada line, except for the 928 which is a PPC PE (last one) and handheld devices, for the iPaq.
