IGN have posted a preview of the upcoming game from Elixer Studios, Republic: The Revolution. Here is a snippet of the preview which talks about the detail the game goes into:
It's these objectives that actually make Republic a game, and give players a definable route to progress from the "town" stage to the "city" stage, and finally to make their triumphant march to the "capital" stage. There are always five objectives to pick from at any given time, ranging from such tasks as recruiting a powerful general to making a legendary speech to holding a passive protest against the State. You must complete at least three of these major tasks before you move on to the next layer of the game, and just to make sure you're never stuck trying to complete one task over and over and over again, once you complete an objective, another one will take its place.
As easy as it may sound, these tasks won't be as simple as hitting a "passive protest" button. You will have to get your followers to perform smaller actions that will culminate into the final grand assignment at hand. For example, to start the beginnings of a passive protest, you may have one of your followers go out and hang posters about the protest around town while another of your minions gathers people from his neighborhood to join in the protest, while yet another of your supporters convinces a local church leader to let your faction use the cathedral for organizing the event. Completing each task will be a process that involves espionage, intrigue, religious coercion, and perhaps a little strong-arming.
