LOS ANGELES – On the eve of the annual E3 video game convention here, Microsoft announced on Monday that it intended to double the amount and scope of media content offered over the next year through the company’s Xbox Live online service. While games were the initial focus of Xbox Live, the recent addition of video from partners including Major League Baseball, Netflix and HBO has helped reposition the service and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console as a hub for entertainment beyond video games.
