Along with Microsoft's unveiling of the Windows Phone 7 software last week came Microsoft's unveiling of its new strategy in the mobile business.
Instead of letting phone manufactures install its operating system willy-nilly on whatever hardware they want, Microsoft is imposing minimum specifications and restricting customization that steps on the overall look and feel of Windows Phone 7. Some industry followers feel it was a good move, bringing Microsoft's mobile strategy more in line with Apple's hot tactics, while others feel it may leave original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) out in the cold.
