The technology industry, like the rest of the world, is waiting in anticipation of the U.S. presidential elections, now less than a day a way. Technology hasn't been the biggest focus of the Barack Obama and John McCain campaigns, but there will be plenty of tech issues hanging in the balance as the next president takes office.
That was underscored when politics bubbled up on tech aggregation site TechMeme over the weekend. Nicholas Thompson stirred the pot with his assertion on the Wired Epicenter blog, "No one in tech can defend McCain," based on McCain's positions on such issues as network neutrality and broadband access. Others came to McCain's defense, including James Robertson, a reader of Robert Scoble's blog, who argued that Obama's tax plan would hurt tech investment.
