Microsoft considering splitting Windows Home Server in two
Time: 06:36 EST/11:36 GMT | News Source: Ars Technica | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

With Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 1 sent out via Automatic Updates last month, the WHS team has now started to focus on the next version of Windows Home Server. One of the things the team is considering addressing is the complaint from WHS users that there is a limit of 10 user accounts in the Windows Home Server Console and that the Windows Home Server Connector software can only be installed on up to 10 home computers running Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Based on primary and secondary research, Microsoft concluded that very few broadband-connected households and home-based businesses had more than 10 people or more than 10 home computers. For those that did, Microsoft pointed to Windows Small Business Server, which scales well beyond the number 10. Nevertheless, the complaints kept coming, and so the WHS team is now asking the community what it thinks about splitting WHS in two
