Microsoft's economic expert asked a federal judge Tuesday to impose mild antitrust sanctions on the software giant, saying the rivals it tried to stifle never really threatened its Windows monopoly. Neither Netscape's Navigator browser nor Java software "possessed the capacity to be a serious challenge to the Windows platform," Kevin Murphy, an economics professor at the University of Chicago, said in written testimony. And Murphy said the proposed remedy would restrict competition and "will harm consumers." | ||
