At the CeBIT AVM shows its Access Server, a new solution for accessing intranets from on the road or from home. With it employees shall be able to access the intranet alternatively via Internet or via direct ISDN and GSM dial-up.
With the AVM Access Server one can integrate without any problems remote work stations or branch offices with LAN into an intranet. The branch offices shall be able to dial up via ISDN or GSM as customary. Linking up to the Internet via ADSL is the new feature integrated.
To protect the own network and the transmitted data a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used. In doing so a virtual tunnel is built up and so the data reach its destination protected against unauthorized access. The protocol IPsec implemented in Access Server saves the data. Encryption algorithms of a key length of up to 256 bit are used. IPsec also provides receiver authentification via IP address of the communicating PCs. If the Internet service provider does not support fixed IP addresses, one side shall be able to use variable addresses.
