Consumers who want to buy a flat panel according to ISO 13406-2 shall for the first time be enabled to rely on assured characteristics like pixel failure class and viewing angle class. The new norm includes high technical specifications.
The specifications and the resulting technical data shall be much more reliable than the details presently given by manufacturers. An example is contrast details for lighted working conditions instead of contrast details for dark room conditions as hitherto given by manufacturers.
"The norm already is a must for IT purchase in project businesses", said Stephan Scheuer, Director Information Technology in the area of Product Saftey and Quality at TÜV Rheinland Berlin Brandenburg. "But even in the end consumer sector it will become established. More and more user attach importance to comparable performance data."
