Sega announced today that it would transfer subscribers of its ISP SegaNet to Internet provider Earthlink, Inc.'s service, officially dropping from the ISP business. Former SegaNet users will continue to pay their normal $19.95 per month fee for the new Earthlink access, despite the fact that the company has recently raised its regular rates to $21.95.
Sega will charge separate fees to play forthcoming software. The first game to adhere to the new company policy will be Phantasy Star Online Version 2, which ships in the US on September 11 for Dreamcast. Sega will charge $15 for three months of unlimited online gameplay access to the title.
