Microsoft believes its SQL Server product has a very bright future, maybe. On Friday, the company's own Paul Flessner, who is Microsoft's senior VP of data and storage platforms, told CRN that the database has "got to go past words and numbers and get to sounds and sights." Providing better handling for sound and graphical data are just a few of the goals the company has in mind, but first it needs to find a way to support better pattern matching.
