A Democratic congressman said Attorney General John Ashcroft should have recused himself from the Microsoft antitrust case because of the software giant's contributions to Ashcroft's 2000 Senate campaign, according to a letter released Thursday. Ashcroft has already bowed out of the Enron investigation, citing contributions received from the failed energy giant. "I am disappointed you have failed to take similar action in the Microsoft case, a matter involving a party from whom you also received sizable contributions, $20,000 in the 2000 election cycle alone," wrote Rep. John Conyers, the lead Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee.
