Standard & Poor's Equity Research analyst Scott Kessler said efforts by Microsoft to launch its new search advertising platform could hurt Google.
"We continue to believe that Microsoft's focus on the search category will eventually have an adverse impact on Google, which derives 99% of its revenues from Internet search advertising," Kessler wrote in a recent investor note.
The research analyst said Microsoft is accelerating the anticipated launch of its adCenter Internet search advertising platform, and that the company continues to invest aggressively in its search capabilities like mapping, news and images.
