South Korea's Samsung Electronics will launch a home network server in cooperation with U.S-based software group Microsoft, sources close to the companies said on Saturday. The home server, which will be able to connect computers, consumers electronics and home appliances, will be presented at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, according to the sources. It will work on Microsoft's new Windows XP operating system which will be launched in October. The server, which will look like any HiFi-player, will be priced like an average personal computer, and will be simple to use. Home network servers have been anticipated for some time, but electronic manufacturers have struggled with the user-friendliness.
