SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters)—Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, said on Thursday that it has acquired a company that provides file management services that allows users access to information from various devices over the Web.
Microsoft did not disclose how much it paid for FolderShare, a privately-held company based in Austin, Texas.
Microsoft said that acquisition will help it bolster its new strategy of providing more software-based services over the Internet to customers, an initiative called Windows Live that was announced earlier this week
