Following on the wave of publicity from the Windows Mobile based Palm Treo, Microsoft has released three papers designed to help mobile application developers from other platforms migrate their applications to Windows Mobile.
The first and second papers involve migrating developers and applications from Symbian OS to Windows Mobile. The application migration document shows how to migrate Symbian OS applications to Windows Mobile for Smartphones. This paper assumes you are migrating a C++ Symbian OS application to C++ embedded for Windows Mobile and includes guidance on handling issues such as handling templated collections, replacing leaves, the cleanup stack, and two-phase construction. The developer migration document contains guidelines for Symbian OS developers including tips on which tools to use and differences in screen resolution and hardware resources between devices.
