Following the classic 1994 PC game, Doom 3 is a long-awaited sequel, promising to be one of the most terrifying gaming experiences ever. After being released for the PC last year, the Xbox port is here, offering exclusive gameplay modes and a guaranteed framerate. Minutes after clawing away the shrink-wrap, you’ll be busy blowing away monsters from hell. With virtually no learning curve, Doom 3 is reasonably accessible to shooter novices and is immediately playable for veterans of Halo and the like. Gameplay is pretty straight-forward. There are a number of linear levels filled with locked doors to be traversed while blowing away pretty much anything that moves. The better part of the game takes place on an underground base on Mars, which consists mostly of dark, narrow corridors.
