Microsoft Corp.'s MSN Internet unit on Monday announced a marketing deal with Ford Motor Co.'s Volvo unit in one of the software giant's broadest online advertising campaigns to date.
Volvo, which last year ran a successful online campaign on MSN rival AOL Time Warner Inc.'s America Online service, will advertise on MSN for 15 months, including ads for the debut of its XC90 sport-utility vehicle, the companies said.
The deal, which Microsoft valued at "millions of dollars," comes amid weakness in the online advertising market in the wake of the dot-com crash and the U.S. economic slowdown.
