There hasn't been a year for Microsoft's Xbox that's seen such a diversity of games both in quantity and in quality. With Bungie bringing its wildly popular Halo 2 in November, EA taking all its games to Xbox Live, and with publishers taking Xbox serious with simultaneous releases and exclusives for Xbox, it's been a healthy, vigorous year for gamers owing the big black box. But after the accolades are handed out, we've very recently experienced some seriously depressing events. The industry continues to consolidate, and while Xbox gamers were given a lot of choice this year, EA's recent acquisitions and exclusives point in a different direction. These events are sure to pave the way for 2005 and the next generation of consoles.
