The first time I had the pleasure of seeing Halo was a few years back at E3, when then independent game developer Bungie Software (who’s only claim to fame at that time had been Marathon and the Myth series) had the game chugging along nicely on a Pentium 2 powered 300Mhz PC equipped with a TNT2 graphics accelerator projected to a big movie screen. A closer examination of the Halo tech demonstration inside Bungie’s booth just blew me away. Everyone that saw the Halo demonstration was extremely impressed with what Bungie showed off that year and agreed it was the best action game they’d seen in a long time. Halo went on to win many best of show awards at multiple E3 events for its engine technology and visual glory, so playing the finished version of the game should not have surprised me that much, but by the gods it sure did. Halo is the best-looking action game I've ever played.
