Open the door to Andy Wilson's room, the home of a modern day wizard. No bat's toes or eel skins here. Plenty of wires, webcams, a ceiling mounted laser pointer, speakers, pieces and parts from disassembled computers, and a collection of lamps. Serious toys for a man who found his passion combining hardware and software.
His wizardly ways extend beyond his cluttered workshop. He once designed a golden sphere that commanded lights and laser pointers. He can move screens of computer data with a wave of his hand.
Wilson and his research partner, Nuria Oliver, are working on innovative user interfaces to make it easier to use your computer. "I believe that there are ways to interact with your computer that go beyond the mouse and the keyboard," said Wilson.
