The European Union agreed unanimously Monday to bring software giant Microsoft to heel for alleged abuses of its overwhelmingly dominant position in the personal computer market, officials said. Ahead of a final verdict next week, anti-trust experts from EU member states met European Commission regulators and agreed to back the EU executive's appraisal of the case. "The members states have unanimously backed the commission's draft decision," Amelia Torres, spokeswoman for EU competition commissioner Mario Monti, told reporters.
