First Look at Sony's Dual Layer DVD Writer: DRU-700 | |

French hardware site Clubic has posted early information about Sony's upcoming dual layer (DVD+R9), dual format DVD recorder: the DRU-700. The drive will be able to write 8.5 GB on a dual layer DVD recordable, and will record at 2.4x; normal DVD+R and DVD-R discs will be written at 8x. Writing DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs will be at a maximum of 4x. DVD read speed is a maximum of 12x. CD-Rs will be written at 40x, CD-RWs at 24x.
