To facilitate the display of computers and workgroups in My Network Places or Network Neighborhood, the Computer Browser service collects, distributes, and then services client computer requests. This article describes the operation of the Computer Browser service on a small office/home (SOHO) office network consisting of a single network segment and how to perform typical computer browsing operations on computers running Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Windows 98, and Windows NT® 4.0.
