We've just gotten our hands on DreamWorks' new box set of Taken, and we're seeing the same sorts of progressive scanning errors that were visible on Universal's recent release of Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. It appears that the software flags on the discs that allow progressive scan DVD players to de-interlace the video signal have been coded incorrectly. As a result, the 3-2 pulldown is improperly done, resulting in jagged edges throughout the image. It's not quite as severe as it was on Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, but it's definitely there. The jagged edges are particularly visible on fast moving objects - the UFOs in the opening sequence for example. We're trying to confirm this problem, so if you happen to get your hands on the set (it streets on 10/21), please let us know if you're seeing this issue as well.
