Well here's a nice surprise: Blue Underground has just announced that it will be releasing the first official region 1 DVD release of cult favorite The Final Countdown on May 25, 2004 (cue supergroup Europe's music now). The sweet-as-hell film, which concerns a nuclear aircraft carrier sent back in time just before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, will be presented with new THX-approved 2.35:1 anamorphic and fullscreen high-definition transfers and state-of-the-art Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES sound remixes. Extras have yet to be announced. What this means is that you should all stay the hell away from the craptacular version recently released by Pacific Family Entertainment.
