...This brings me to Microsoft, which has been producing some neat software in recent years, but all of it is Windows based. I said earlier in the year that Microsoft will have to port its products to Linux eventually and I stand by this. There are now far too many vendors that see Linux as key. Oracle is one of course, as you may have gathered from its "unbreakable Linux" campaign. But so is Intel (the word Lintel is now bandied about with increasing frequency) and so is HP. Most of the software market is also very Linux friendly and of course IBM, being sued over Linux, is widely regarded as a Linux champion. Only Dell appears neutral, but Dell will inevitably follow the market as it develops.
