I received several e-mail messages today from readers saying that companies can't compete with Microsoft. We hear that a lot: Microsoft is a monopolist, it destroys the competition in every market it enters. People make jokes about the Borg, on "Star Trek," the aliens who conquered every species they encountered, whose motto was: "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
However, this view of Microsoft is wrong. It's completely wrong, dead wrong, absolutely wrong, utterly and totally wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. It's so wrong, we need to make up a new word, other than "wrong," to describe its wrongness.
