Apple's iPod has received the accolade of best Internet Audio Device in European Imaging and Sound Association's (EISA) annual awards. EISA credit the iPod as: "A standard-bearer for the future of Internet music." The iPod received the award based on the success of Apple's iTunes Music Store, described as: "The first successful paid-for Internet music service". The Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec, employed by the store and the iPod, is also highlighted. AAC is described as: "Superior" and "Giving better sound quality for a given data rate".
