Over the Summer months, it's not uncommon for the pasty-skinned young gamer to shun the lure of the console, opting to bask in the sunshine; the impulse to stare intently at a screen is cast aside in favour of catching some rays, some fresh air, and perhaps the odd discreet glance at the phenomenal amount of blart on display out there. As such, console sales tend to suffer.
So it is for the week ending July 31, as the GameCube nudges a shade under sales of 1,500, down 6 percent on the previous week's figure. Surprisingly the Xbox actually experienced a faint rise to just over 5,000 consoles shifted; as the 'Cube and the 'Box are both vying for second place, it must be disheartening for Nintendo that the Xbox is continuing to outsell the 'Cube at a rate of over three to one.
