Sun has suffered its share of pain in the past year, but it engaged in some much-needed R&R at last week's JavaOne show in San Francisco—rallying the troops, and re-committing to the fight against Microsoft.
Of course, there were also rollouts and deals. Sun and a raft of software vendors talked up improved ease of use for Java tools. Developers partied with the announcement of Project Rave, which will add drag-and-drop functionality and visual development aids to Java. And the flashy Java.com site now offers the masses a bright, shiny face for the programming language (complete with Christina Aguilera promo).
