The America Online-backed MusicNet downloading service is partnering with Microsoft to offer its songs in the Windows Media 9 format, the company said Thursday. BY MAKING SONGS available in Microsoft’s Windows Media 9 Series, MusicNet becomes the first music download service to offer tunes in multiple formats, said Ellie Hirschhorn, MusicNet’s executive vice president and general manager. For Microsoft, the MusicNet partnership opens a new distribution source for its digital song-playing software as it tries to gain traction in the online music business. | ||
