Microsoft Corp. wants to exclude references to the "wealth or net worth" of Chairman Bill Gates or other executives from the trial of a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of overcharging consumers for Windows.
Gates, ranked by Forbes magazine as the world's richest man with a fortune of $40.7 billion, and Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer, ranked 16th with a $11.1 billion fortune, were among the company executives questioned under oath by consumers' lawyers in preparation for a Sept. 8 trial in Baltimore.
