According to reports, German gaming press has confirmed with Valve Software that its first-person shooter sequel Half-Life 2 is heading to Xbox as well as PC. While the title will most definitely lead on the former format, the news will no doubt have Xbox owners leaping up and down with balloons and streamers tied around their heads.
"...We're also working on an Xbox version...", were the words given to German press by Valve Software's Doug Lombardi.
Apparently Valve Software will be talking further about the Xbox version of Half-Life 2 once E3 is out the way. So it's a case of waiting a few weeks for more information on this one. No mention of either GameCube or PS2 versions as yet.
Half-Life 2 has to be one of the most highly-anticipated sequels of all time, its 1998 predecessor re-writing the first-person shooter genre as we knew it through clever use of storyline, scripted events and fantastic AI. Everyone expects Valve to be the developer to move the FPS goalposts once again with this second outing.
