Recently, we looked at 802.11b, 802.11a, Power Line Networking, 100 Base-T and Gigabit Ethernet to see how they'd handle high bit-rate streaming video. The basic conclusion was that if you're at all serious about streaming video on your home network, then there's copper in your near-term future. The 802.11b and 802.11a wireless technologies each have their respective shortcomings that make neither well suited for handling streaming video. And both lack Quality of Service (QoS) provisions.
